How to Use the NECB 2020 Reviewer
A quick guide to all features — navigation, study tools, keyboard shortcuts, and the AI-powered Quiz Generator.
Navigation
Use the sidebar (left panel on desktop, or tap the menu button on mobile) to jump between NECB 2020 parts and tools. On desktop the sidebar stays open; on phones tap the hamburger menu =.
Each NECB Part (1-4) covers a key area of the National Energy Code for Buildings: Part 1 — Administration & Scope, Part 2 — Building Envelope, Part 3 — Lighting & Electrical Systems, and Part 4 — HVAC & Service Water Heating. Parts 1-2 are free; Parts 3-4 require a subscription.
Practice Quiz
Click Practice Quiz in the sidebar or scroll to the QA section on the main page. The quiz tests your knowledge across all unlocked parts.
- Start a quiz: Choose the number of questions and optional timer, then click Start Quiz.
- Answer: Click an option — correct answers turn green, wrong ones turn red with the correct answer highlighted.
- Results: After the quiz, review your score, see explanations, and get an AI-powered study recommendation.
- AI Explanation: Click "Explain with AI" on any question for a detailed breakdown.
Quiz Generator
The Quiz Generator (below the QA section) creates random practice questions from the full NECB 2020 question bank. It's always available for free-form study without the timer or scoring pressure of a formal quiz.
- Generate: Click 🎲 Generate Question or press Space / Enter to pull a random question from the selected part(s).
- Filter by Part: Use the filter buttons (All Parts, Part 1, Part 2, etc.) to narrow the question pool to a specific NECB 2020 part.
- Answer: Click an option (A-D) or press 1-4 on the keyboard. Correct answers turn green, wrong ones turn red with the correct answer highlighted.
- AI Explain Further: After answering, click 🧠 AI Explain Further to get a detailed AI-generated breakdown of the question and concept. Requires an active subscription or trial token.
- Stats: The stats bar tracks how many questions you've attempted, answered correctly (✔), and answered incorrectly (✘) in the current session.
Flashcards
Click Flashcards in the sidebar or under the QA section. Each card shows a question on the front — click to flip and reveal the answer.
- Filter by part: Use the filter buttons (All, Part 1, Part 2…) to focus on a specific NECB 2020 part.
- Rate cards: After flipping, rate Hard or Easy (SR mode) to power spaced repetition.
- Bookmarks: Click the star to bookmark a card; use the bookmark filter to review only bookmarked cards.
- Spaced Repetition (SR): Toggle SR on/off — when on, harder cards appear more often.
AI Question Generator
Click AI Question Generator in the sidebar. This tool creates fresh practice questions on demand using AI — great for testing yourself on topics you have not mastered yet.
